Before buying a pass
Use your actual visit days
Compare the current daily price multiplied by the number of eligible visits against the current weekly and season pass. Check weekly validity dates, blackout rules, and purchase deadlines. A half-day visit does not automatically cost half a daily badge.
Check each person’s eligibility
Child, senior, military, and other eligibility rules vary. Use the exact age cutoff and documents required by your destination instead of a coast-wide assumption.
Ask your accommodation operator
If a hotel or rental advertises included badges, confirm how many, which dates they cover, their return rules, and replacement charges. Include parking, required fees, and deposits in your stay comparison.
Separate access from swimming conditions
An open beach or end of badge collection is not a swimming clearance. Check patrol coverage and the local beach forecast, and follow on-duty lifeguard instructions.

This table is a reference for the recorded 2026 badge season. Do not assume the same rates, eligibility, deadlines, or patrol schedules will apply next summer. Confirm the season you need with the municipality or beach operator.
How do I compare daily, weekly, and season badges?
Use the current price and validity rules for each person who needs a badge. Add up the eligible visit days, compare the available passes, and include parking. A shorter visit does not automatically reduce the daily badge price.
Does a free beach mean the whole visit is free?
No. A beach without a badge charge may still have parking, transport, permit, or facility costs. Sandy Hook has a separate seasonal beach parking fee. Check the official operator for your date and vehicle.
Are beaches safe for swimming after badge season ends?
The end of badge collection does not establish lifeguard coverage or safe conditions. Check the exact beach patrol schedule and local beach forecast, and swim near an on-duty lifeguard.
Does my hotel or rental include beach badges?
Ask the operator about your exact room or rental: how many badges, their validity dates, return rules, deposits, and replacement charges. Compare the complete stay quote rather than assuming badges are included.
