Slough off the New Jersey coast
The southern of two sloughs at the 120-foot depth zone east of the Site 11 Reef off Cape May Inlet, covering approximately 21 acres. This compact slough follows the 120-foot contour and drops to 124 feet in the deepest cuts, creating concentrated habitat for sea bass and tautog. Positioned 7.3 nautical miles east of Site 11, this ground sits in prime offshore sea bass territory with less pressure than the reef itself. The slough structure focuses fish and bait, making it productive on a properly timed drift. Charter boats from Cape May Inlet and Stone Harbor run to this ground as part of larger reef circuit trips.
The surrounding area is characterized by sandy and shelly material as a bottom type.
