Slough off the New Jersey coast
A narrow, elongated nearshore slough approximately 4 nautical miles east of the Fenwick Island shoreline near the southern entrance of Delaware Bay. The slough runs along a natural current corridor, attracting weakfish, striped bass, and bluefish that transit the bay entrance. Its nearshore character makes it accessible from both the Delaware and New Jersey sides. Weakfish are a notable target; the slough channels provide ideal ambush points as fish move with the tides. Striped bass push through during spring and fall migrations. Time your trip for the tide change when bait concentrates at the slough openings and feeding activity peaks throughout the water column.
The surrounds in East and West side of it there are several lumps very clearly marked in the NOAA charts. The bottom characteristics are broken sandy and shelly.
