Lump off the New Jersey coast
Fenwick Shoal's 628-acre main body rises off the Delaware-Maryland line, about 28 nautical miles south of Cape May Inlet — far southern water for a Cape May run. The shoal's lift concentrates sand eels, which is why the log reads both ways: sea bass below, and bluefish, bonito, albies, and even tuna riding the bait above. Four smaller parcels trail to its southeast.
The surrounding area is composed by several sloughs with hard and broken bottom characteristics.
