The central slough of a three-slough complex at 13 nautical miles southeast of Cape May Reef, following the 60-foot depth line in the outer offshore zone. Positioned between the southern and northern companions, this central slough provides the most direct drift line through the entire complex. Sea bass and fluke are the target species at 60 feet; late summer brings false albacore and bonito to this offshore zone as they follow temperature breaks along the depth contour. The 13-mile position from Cape May Reef makes this a full-day commitment, but reduced pressure and quality structure reward the effort. Plan around a favorable weather window and verify fuel capacity before the run.
