About This Ground

The northernmost of three sloughs positioned 13 nautical miles southeast of Cape May Reef, following the 60-foot depth contour in New Jersey's outer offshore waters. At this distance from shore, these sloughs receive more ocean influence than inshore grounds, attracting migratory species and larger fish. Sea bass hold on the structure year-round; fluke appear in summer and bonito and false albacore run through in late summer. The three-slough complex here forms a productive offshore destination for full-day trips. Current flow is stronger than inshore grounds — use heavier sinkers and drift across the current rather than with it for maximum bottom contact.

The surrounding area is characterized by sandy material as a bottom type.
