About This Ground

The northernmost and outermost of the four Cape May northeast sloughs, a 61-acre feature at the outer edge of this productive slough complex. The offshore position adds more ocean water influence and potentially larger fish — fluke over 3 pounds are common here when the bite is on. Weakfish and occasional sea bass are secondary targets. The extra run time to this outer slough rewards with less pressure and quality catches. Combine with the inner three sloughs on a full-day Cape May trip. The outgoing tide produces the strongest current flow through this slough, making the bite most predictable during the ebb when bait concentrates along the slough edge.

The surrounding area is characterized by sandy and shelly material as a bottom type.
