Reef off the New Jersey coast
The eastern and largest Scallop Bottom parcel, 128 acres of shell ground nearly 21 nautical miles east-southeast of Townsends Inlet. Old scallop beds carpet the bottom with forage; sea bass and tautog graze the shell while fluke and weakfish hunt the fringes.
The bottom characteristics are sandy and shelly material.
