About This Ground
A deep slough running along the 120-foot depth contour in the southernmost section of the Hereford Inlet fishing complex, Cape May County. The slough structure creates natural ambush points, with depths reaching 130 feet in the deepest cuts. Sea bass and tautog hold tight to the irregular bottom throughout the fishing season, with weakfish making runs through the slough channel in summer. Moving water triggers the best feeding — plan your drift to follow the current. Charter boats from Wildwood and Stone Harbor regularly work this ground as the first stop in the Hereford slough series.
