About This Ground

A 30-acre slough oriented northeast to southwest near the Site 11 Reef, positioned 2 nautical miles northeast of the reef's outer corner. This is the outer of the two sloughs in the Site 11 northeast pair, sitting slightly further from the main reef complex. The NE–SW alignment creates an effective drift corridor for bottom fishing. Fluke and sea bass share this ground in season; sea bass dominate in fall. At intermediate depths between the reef and open water, this slough acts as a staging area for fish transitioning between habitats. Cape May Inlet charter boats run multi-stop trips hitting both northeast sloughs in the same day alongside the main reef.

The surrounding area is characterized by sandy material as a bottom type.
