Slough off the New Jersey coast
A 21-acre slough within the Site 10 Reef complex, following the 60-foot depth line along the southern New Jersey coast. The Site 10 artificial reef provides structure that draws and holds fish year-round, making this slough more productive than comparable unmarked bottom at similar depths. Fluke are the summer target; sea bass dominate in fall. The compact footprint is manageable for drift fishing in moderate currents. Cape May Inlet charter boats work this ground frequently, and it's popular for private boaters given its proximity to shore. Bring bucktails and Gulp baits for fluke; switch to clam rigs for sea bass after Labor Day.
The surrounding area is characterized by sandy and gravel material as a bottom type.
