Reef off the New Jersey coast
The northeastern of the two Mussel Rocks grounds, 159 acres of rock and shell 6.3 nautical miles northeast of Shark River. Striped bass root along this broken bottom during migrations, fluke and sea bass hold through the summer, and bluefish ride the tide lines overhead.
The surrounding area is characterized by rocky and sandy material in the southern part.
