About This Ground

A small 17-acre lump located 2 nautical miles southeast (165° true) of Corson Inlet, part of a pair of bottom features in this section of the New Jersey inshore zone. The compact lump provides relief from otherwise flat sandy bottom, concentrating bluefish, bonito, and sea bass on the structure. Being close to Corson Inlet (Sea Isle City area), this ground is accessible to smaller boats in favorable weather. Late summer and fall bluefish and bonito runs use structure like this as waypoints along the coast. Bring light tackle for bonito in late August through October; heavier bottom rigs for sea bass and tautog on the lump structure itself.

The surrounding area is composed with lumps in the inshore part and plain in the offshore part.
