About This Ground
Vixen is a locally named vessel wreck off Barnegat Inlet in NJ offshore waters, named for a vessel that sank in the area. The wreck structure provides hard-bottom habitat on an otherwise sandy seafloor, attracting sea bass, tautog, and fluke. Located in the productive 70–90 foot depth zone off Barnegat Inlet, Vixen is accessible from Barnegat Light and Barnegat Inlet marinas on standard-range charter trips. Sea bass fishing is strongest in spring and fall.
