Reef off the New Jersey coast
The Tires — a 207-acre reef patch 8.9 nautical miles south of Barnegat Inlet built around deployed tire units from the reef-building era. Fluke ambush from the sand alongside the units while sea bass and tautog live in them; anchor up-current and fish back into the structure.
The bottom characteristics are gravel and sandy material.
