About This Ground

Fingers is a locally named bottom feature off Barnegat Inlet, named for the finger-like projections of hard bottom or reef material visible on the depth finder. The multi-fingered structure creates numerous current breaks and micro-habitats that concentrate sea bass and tautog throughout the season. Fluke hunt the sandy channels between the fingers in summer. A distinctive and productive ground for charter boats working the central NJ offshore zone from Barnegat Inlet.

The surrounding area is composed by sandy and shelly material as a bottom characteristics.
