Slough off the New Jersey coast
The main body of the 1st Jump, nearly 1,700 acres of slough and step bottom 11.5 nautical miles east-southeast of Townsends Inlet. The first depth 'jump' off this coast gathers summer fluke and weakfish along its length; bluefish patrol the up-current lip when bait funnels through.
The bottom characteristics are sandy ans shelly material.
