Why Seaside Heights for July 4th?
Seaside Heights is the Jersey boardwalk turned up to full volume - rides, arcades, sausage-and-pepper stands, and fireworks you can watch with your feet in the sand. The town runs fireworks on Wednesday nights through the summer, usually around 9:30 PM, and the holiday week brings extra shows, so you rarely have to wait long for the next one.
Casino Pier anchors the boardwalk with a roller coaster out over the water and the Breakwater Beach waterpark next door. It's a high-energy, all-ages scene - the kind of place where teenagers and grandparents both end up happy by the end of the night.
If you want the boardwalk experience without the steepest Cape May County prices, this stretch of the Barnegat Peninsula is hard to beat. Lavallette sits just north for a quieter night, and Point Pleasant Beach is a short drive up the coast.
