Camping Tips for NJ State Parks
Reservations
Reserve campsites through the NJ State Parks reservation system at reserve.nj.gov. Popular weekends fill quickly - book 2-3 months ahead for summer dates.
Peak Season
Peak camping season runs Memorial Day through Labor Day. Spring and fall offer cooler temps, fewer crowds, and often lower rates.
What to Bring
Pack insect repellent (Pine Barrens have mosquitoes), firewood (can't be brought from out of state), and plenty of water. Check if your site has electric hookups.
Nearby Beaches
Several campgrounds are within 30-45 minutes of Shore beaches. Bass River is closest to LBI, Belleplain to Wildwood and Cape May.
