The Jersey Shore has one of the most active East Coast beach volleyball scenes outside Florida and Southern California. Belmar's 16th Avenue courts host AVP-caliber pickup games; Seaside Heights runs the weekly NJBVA sanctioned series; and tournament weekends in July and August bring college scouts, amateur divisions, and family-friendly brackets to every major shore town.

Asbury Park2v2 doubles, open divisions

Kickoff weekend for Asbury Park Pride combines tournament volleyball with the full Pride festival on the boardwalk. Open to all — LGBTQ+ focused but welcoming to everyone.

Part of the larger Asbury Park Pride weekend celebration. Stay overnight and catch the full festival.

Long Branch Summer Volleyball Series

Long BranchDoubles drop-in tournament

Pier Village Beach hosts a Saturday drop-in tournament every summer weekend. Teams show up Saturday morning, get placed in a division, and play through the afternoon. Perfect for visitors who don't want to commit to a full weekend.

Drop-in format — register the morning of, no season commitment. The most visitor-friendly tournament on the shore.

Seaside Heights NJBVA Summer Series

June – August 2026 (weekly)

Seaside Heights4v4 and 2v2 divisions

Weekly NJBVA sanctioned events on the Seaside Heights boardwalk beach. All skill levels welcome — A/AA for serious players, BB/B for intermediate, and C/rec for beginners.

Weekly series runs every Saturday through summer. The beginner divisions are the friendliest way to start playing tournament volleyball.

Ocean City Beach Volleyball Classic

Ocean City2v2 and 4v4 divisions

Ocean City's classic family-friendly tournament on 14th Street beach. Runs A/AA, BB/B, and mixed divisions across two days. Dry-town rules mean no alcohol on the beach — family vibe.

The most family-friendly tournament on the shore — Ocean City's dry-town ordinance keeps the vibe clean and kid-appropriate.

Belmar2v2 doubles, men's and women's

One of the longest-running beach volleyball tournaments on the East Coast. AVP pros and top amateurs from the entire Atlantic region fill 10 courts at 16th Avenue Beach.

The most serious beach volleyball tournament on the Jersey Shore. Watch AVP-level pros compete on the opening day, then stick around for amateur finals Sunday afternoon.

Seaside Heights 4v4 Beach Volleyball Tournament

Seaside Heights4v4 coed, open divisions

Seaside Heights' biggest standalone tournament of the summer. 4v4 coed format, open to any team willing to show up. Courts on the north end of the boardwalk beach, food and drinks onsite.

Biggest party of the volleyball season. Plan on a full weekend — Seaside nightlife on Saturday, finals Sunday.

Atlantic City Beach Patrol Lifeguard Tournament

The Atlantic City Beach Patrol hosts a beach-wide tournament that's become a full summer festival with volleyball as the anchor event. Lifeguard teams from across NJ compete alongside open-bracket amateur teams.

Part tournament, part lifeguard rally — great atmosphere even if you're just spectating. Food trucks and live music on the beach all day.
