About the Seaside Heights Polar Plunge
The Seaside Heights Polar Bear Plunge is New Jersey's largest and most iconic cold-water charity event. Each February, over 8,000 plungers brave the frigid Atlantic Ocean in front of the famous Seaside Heights Boardwalk, collectively raising more than $2.6 million for Special Olympics New Jersey.
What started as a small gathering has grown into a massive celebration of courage and community. Plungers represent teams from schools, businesses, law enforcement, and community organizations across the state. Many participants don elaborate costumes, adding to the festive atmosphere.
The funds raised support more than 27,000 Special Olympics NJ athletes who compete in 24 sports year-round. Your plunge directly impacts the lives of athletes with intellectual disabilities, providing training, competition, and life-changing experiences.
